INFORMATION FOR EUROPEAN CITIZENS LIVING IN SCOTLAND

Are you a European citizen? Do you know your civil rights?

Did you know that:

  • European citizens have a right to vote in the upcoming Local Council elections?

  • Scottish Parliament decides about important issues that influence your everyday life, such as:
education and training, environment, health and social services, housing?

  • In order to vote you need to register before the 17th of April?

  • Registration is easy and comes with many perks; for example, it boosts your credit ranking. Lack of registration, on the other hand, may result in a fee up to £80?

  • Information about the Local Council Elections is available in 15 languages , including Spanish, French, German and Italian?

  • We will be happy to help and we will share with you our experiences if you would like to make information about the voting and registration available in your language?

At Vote. You are at Home we agree with the Scottish Parliament that:

"Elections are an important part of democracy - a way in which the people can exercise power."

However, no democracy can function properly unless it takes into account the voice of all its people. Therefore, our initiative aims not only to empower migrant communities and encourage them to discover their civil rights in Scotland: we would also like to help Scottish MSPs hear our voice and understand the needs of all their voters.

Together we can make it happen.
